May 24 Weekend in Ontario, Canada: Where to Eat and Stay

Submitted by Inspector 401, May 3, 2012
Ontario, Canada
Canadians are known for many things, and two of them are our love for the great outdoors and our love for beer. These two passions are what make the May 24th Weekend (you may even hear us say “May Two Four”) one of the most anticipated holidays of the season.

We also call a case of beer a Two Four (24 bottles of beer, get it?). Coincidence? I think not! ... Read More

How AAA/CAA Inspectors Celebrate Thanksgiving

Submitted by Inspector TCH, November 22, 2011
Canadian and American Thanksgivings
Having lived in both Canada and the U.S., it is interesting to note the Thanksgiving tradition similarities shared by these two neighboring nations, even though the holiday falls differently on the calendar. Canada’s Thanksgiving is on the second Monday in October while the U.S. celebrates the fourth Thursday in November. As we prepare for Thanksgiving, I thought it would be interesting to have our inspectors and other road warriors share their holiday traditions.... Read More

Fun and Halloween Frights After Thanksgiving in Canada

Submitted by Inspector 75, October 26, 2011
Ontario, Canada
A few weeks ago, we celebrated Thanksgiving here in Canada, and as many families do my family gathered in Windsor, Ontario, for the holiday weekend. Relatives traveled from all over southern Ontario to share a turkey meal together, and after a long day of eating and drinking, we thought it would be fun to do something a bit more energetic the next day – something that would help us feel less guilty over our calorie-rich indulgences.... Read More

Christmas in Frankenmuth, MI

Submitted by Inspector 75, December 23, 2010

The winding main street of the town is lined with wood and stucco Bavarian-style chalets, and the Cass River runs in a “U” shape right through the center of the town which makes for some lovely park space and gorgeous river views from many of the hotel rooms.... Read More

Quebec City’s Winter Wonderland

Submitted by Inspector 40, December 16, 2010
Old Québec by Jean-François Bergeron

This week, I once again had the pleasure of working in Quebec City’s 400-year-old historic quarter, near the famous castle-like Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac. After a week of some tough driving on Quebec highways, with lots of blowing snow and icy roads, it was nice to arrive safe and sound. (At this time of year, snow tires are a must).

I unloaded my luggage at the historic Le Chateau de Pierre (an affordable ... Read More
