Q&A: Dining Around Amelia Island

Submitted by Community Manager, March 6, 2009
The Beech Street Grill - Fernandina Beach, Florida
Question: Di asks: We will be traveling to Amelia Island Plantation, Florida, next week - staying in a condo on the property. Any suggestions for nice restaurants in the area? Better to eat at the hotel or go to Fernadina for a nice evening meal?

Answer: Bill Wood, executive editor at AAA Publishing, and Amelia Island enthusiast answers: Definitely go into Fernandina Beach for at least one meal. I’d spend a couple hours in the afternoon strolling around – visit the Palace Saloon and ask the bartender about the ghost – and then have a sunset dinner. It’s a quaint, historic little town with lots of friendly people. My favorite “local flavor” restaurant is the 3 Diamond Beech Street Grill. Ask for a window table in the 1880s Victorian  and if they’re serving scallops order at least an appetizer if not an entrée. I found this to be a very romantic setting on my last visit. If you find another great place to dine in the area let us all know. Have fun!
Many other AAA Approved dining options in the area can be found with TripTik Travel Planner.
