The Beech Street Grill - Fernandina Beach, Florida
Question: Di asks: We will be traveling to Amelia Island Plantation, Florida, next week - staying in a condo on the property. Any suggestions for nice restaurants in the area? Better to eat at the hotel or go to Fernadina for a nice evening meal?
Answer: Bill Wood, executive editor at AAA Publishing, and Amelia Island enthusiast answers: Definitely go into Fernandina Beach for at least one meal. I’d spend a couple hours in the afternoon strolling around – visit the
Palace Saloon and ask the bartender about the ghost – and then have a sunset dinner. It’s a quaint, historic little town with lots of friendly people. My favorite “local flavor” restaurant is the 3 Diamond
Beech Street Grill. Ask for a window table in the 1880s Victorian
and if they’re serving scallops order at least an appetizer if not an entrée. I found this to be a very romantic setting on my last visit. If you find another great place to dine in the area let us all know. Have fun!
