Q&A: Bermuda's Pink Sand Beaches

Submitted by Community Manager, March 11, 2009
Horseshoe Beach Bermuda
Question: Diane Sheahan asks: Where are the best public beaches in Bermuda ? We will be staying at Grotto Bay Beach Club and want to visit other beaches.

Answer: Paula Myer, AAA staff associate and former Bermuda resident, answers: The beaches in Bermuda are absolutely gorgeous with their pink sand along the turquoise water shoreline. The island's south shore has quite a few public beaches. These, because of their beauty and accessibility, are the some of the most frequently photographed. Some of my favorites are Warwick Park, Warwick Long Bay and Horseshoe Bay, with Horseshoe Bay being tops on my list. As you explore, note that some of the beaches are private like the one at Grotto Bay.

Having been to Bermuda 6-8 times we feel we know a lot about the Island as what to see and do while there. Your beach question has been pretty much answered already. The Grotto is a place we've stayed at and depending on your age and those of the travellers, yor room location can be an inconvenience as the hotel is built on a hillside and there are many steps to the pool level and small beach. The best thing about the Grotto location is it's proximity to a local pub called the Swizzle Inn. It's noted for it's drinks, food, and atmosphere. We ate there quite often as it's just a few minute wals from the hotel.
