Q&A: Furniture Shopping is a High Point Highlight

Waxhaw, NC - Home of Antique Village and Furniture World
Question: Robert asks:  I would like to go furniture shopping in North Carolina.  Which city do I stay in? High Point is one I believe.

Answer: Debra Moore and Edith Smitherman, travel planners at the AAA office in Charlotte answer:  High Point, North Carolina is indeed considered the home furnishing capital of the world, with over 125 manufacturers in the area. It appeals to the world-wide market and some stores are only open to dealers.  Our recommendation is to visit Lenoir and Hickory, North Carolina where you may find more reasonable pricing and a variety of shops at the Catawba Furniture Mall and Hickory Furniture Mart. Both towns are located close together, west of High Point. If you have time, also visit Lexington and Thomasville, North Carolina.  If you are an antique buff, don’t miss Waxhaw while you are in the area and walk through the Antique Village downtown. This small town, south of Charlotte, is the home of Furniture World.
