Yosemite is the highlight of this trip, which showcases much of the Sierra's most spectacular high country. You'll also pass through the eastern Sierra town of Bridgeport, surrounded by outstanding skiing, backpacking, fishing and other seasonal activities. Cross the mountains again and you'll reach Sonora, a Gold Rush-era town in the western foothills that's long on history, outdoor fun and cultural events. Be advised: This loop trip can be done only during the summer and early fall, when the roads across Tioga Pass and Sonora Pass are not blocked by snow. Otherwise, from Yosemite you'll go back the way you came.
