Sinbad's, San Francisco
Question: Connie Atwell asks: Where are the best places on the water to eat in San Francisco?
Answer: Tonya Powell, vacation sales specialist at the Chico, Calif. AAA office says: One recommendation is
Scoma's - at
Pier 47. This is a AAA Three Diamond Rated restaurant right in the heart of the Fisherman's Wharf area that has amazing seafood and wonderful views of the bay. Lots of old movie stars’ photos are in the bar area, and their white table linens make you feel like you’ve gone back in time. The service is excellent and a bit formal. The waiters still wear the formal white jackets and it is a real treat. Their crab cakes are by far top notch. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and you will see people in jeans and suits.
The second suggestion is
Sinbad's - at
Embarcadero 85, Pier 2 which is a AAA Two Diamond restaurant. It is not at Fisherman's Wharf but it is a close ride on the muni. The views of the bay bridge are amazing and the seafood is good. I loved the calamari! The restaurant is older but the service is wonderful.
Or, if you don't need to be on the waterfront - you would not want to miss out on
Restaurant Gary Danko on
Point Street. Five Diamond rated, and I think it is one of the very best restaurants in San Francisco. The food is fresh and seasonal, and it is worth the price. Not to be missed!
