Hersheypark Recommendations

Submitted by Community Manager, April 27, 2010

Question: Megan asks, Do you have any tips for visiting and staying near Hersheypark in Pennsylvania?

Answer: Matt Lyle, AAA account manager, has been visiting Hershey for 13 years and says:
• When you get to town, roll down your windows… the town smells like chocolate.
• If you have time,  plan two days at Hersheypark.  This way you can cover all the rides, shows ZooAmerica and the Boardwalk water park at a comfortable pace.
• in the summer, be sure to visit the park at night and enjoy the rides under the lights.  Plus the park is cooler and the lines are shorter.
• For a great breakfast, eat at the Hershey Pantry.  It is always busy so you may have to wait to be seated.  Bring cash since they don’t take credit cards.
• I also recommend Fenicci’s for excellent Italian and the Bear’s Den at the Hershey Lodge.  It’s a hockey themed restaurant and sports bar.
• Visit Hershey’s Chocolate World located next to the Hersheypark entrance. It's free.
• Check out other attractions nearby like the Antique Automobile Club of America Museum and The Hershey Story.

Hershey, Trip Tik Travel PlannerAs far as accommodations, we list over 60 AAA Approved hotels within 15 miles of Hersheypark. One has achieved a Four Diamond rating, The Hotel Hershey.

Go to AAA.com/travel and put in your dates and destination (Hershey, Pennsylvania) in the Hotel Search box. You will then be able to see available hotels along with prices, Diamond Ratings and reviews. For close-by hotels consider Days Inn Hershey, Rodeway Inn & Suites, Chocolatetown Motel, Best Western Inn-Hershey, Comfort Inn Hershey, Hilton Garden Inn Hershey and Holiday Inn Express. The Days Inn offers a free shuttle to the park.

You could also look at the hotels listed under Hummelstown, Harrisburg, Grantville, Middletown, New Cumberland and Elizabethtown, all in Pennsylvania. Use Trip Tik Travel Planner to get mapping and directions. Have a great trip and readers, add more suggestions.

Question: Can I use my AAA card at the gate of the park and get a discount? To get the AAA discounted ticket price, you have to get the tickets from a AAA office. If your local office doesn’t have them, you can get them at the Hershey AAA branch in Hummelstown PA at 1142 Mae Street, phone 717-533-3381. The one-day ticket price there is currently $41 adults, $30 ages 3-8 and 55+. See this page for regular pricing (and note they will honor the Preview admission with that ticket)
