What are travel conditions in Nashville, has all the flooding been cleaned up?
The music is playing in Nashville! From a travel perspective everything is up and running with just a few exceptions…Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center will reopen November 15 in time for their annual Country Christmas celebration. The Grand Ole Opry never missed a show during the flooding – performances were held at the Ryman Auditorium - but the Opry House was damaged in the flood. The Grand Ole Opry House will reopen October 1. The Schermerhorn Symphony Center will is scheduled to reopen early next year. Opry Mills Mall is under construction right now as well and will reopen in 2011. Traveling to Yellowstone National Park in September. How do we find hotel rooms in the area?

Can I get some tips on planning a Niagara Falls trip?
On the American side you’ll want to experience the Maid of the Mist boat ride and the Cave of the Winds. On the Canadian side, there’s the Skylon Tower, the Whirlpool Aero car and many more options for entertainment as it is more developed, with high-rise hotels, casinos, etc. Please see our Niagara Falls Travel Guide online for more details. Can my local AAA office help me getting pages added to my passport?
Your local AAA office can help with international travel planning, passport photos and International Driving Permits, but to add pages to your passport, see this Department of State information. 

I am curious about adapters. My husband once messed up an electrical device by using an adapter only and not the converter. When do you use a converter and when do you use an adapter?
The adapter allow you to plug your device into a differently-configured outlet, i.e., round pins instead of square. Convertors change the current from the U.S standard 110 volt to the alternate current in your destination. Some appliances have the ability to be switched to accept an alternate current (look for the 110/220 switch) so you would not need a converter for those. Multi-use travel converter/adapter devices are widely available, go to AAA.com/etravelstore and put ‘converter’ in the search box to quickly see some examples.

We have a 5th wheel RV and are planning a vacation traveling through the western states. Would I be required to stop and weigh in at any of the commercial weigh stations?
Non-commercial vehicles are not normally required to stop, your best bet is to look at this site and check for each state you will be traveling through. Don’t forget to check out your options for AAA membership and insurance for RVs.

What is the driving distance between Sea-Tac and Boeing Field?

I was wondering if CAA is associated with AAA? Especially for hotel discounts and such.
AAA and CAA work collaboratively to secure a wide range of hotel discounts for members.  CAA members are eligible for all AAA hotel discounts where offered worldwide and the same applies for AAA members for CAA discounts. Is there a AAA discount on Amtrak and if so how do I get it?
Go to www.amtrak.com and choose your stations and dates. After you have selected your stations, dates and passenger numbers, click ‘go’ to see your train choices. After you have clicked ‘Add to cart’ for seats or rooms, you will see a new screen that includes ‘Passenger’ and a dropdown menu for each. If you choose ‘AAA adult’ (or child if applicable) you will then receive a 10% discount off the fare. Enjoy your trip and call 1-800-USA-RAIL for further assistance.

How can we avoid road construction – or some of it - while traveling?
If you use TripTik Travel Planner online to map your intended route, applicable road construction advisories will appear. If you have selected to display construction information, you will see areas of construction indicated by a series of yellow dots as pictured on the right. When you move your mouse over the construction area, a box will pop up with information about the location and impact of the construction. If you want detailed summaries of an area’s road construction, individual states’ Department of Transportation sites (Google the state and ‘DOT’) will have more information.
